The TSC DC270 print head is a thermal print head component designed specifically for 4-inch (≈ 108-114mm) desktop/industrial label printers in the TSC DC/DA series. It uses heat transfer/direct heat technology and is designed to provide clear 203 dpi output for text, barcodes, and graphics at common desktop printing speeds (up to 6 inches per second, depending on printer model and dpi). The print head is a field replaceable module used for direct replacement during routine maintenance or end-of-life replacement.

Under normal and properly maintained conditions, the typical lifespan of the print head is about 50 kilometers, which reduces costs when combined with appropriate cleaning/maintenance procedures. The actual lifespan depends on the degree of media wear, ribbon type, printing temperature, and cleaning rhythmf prolonged downtime.
The 203dpi resolution and carefully designed thermal elements can generate barcodes and readable text, meeting common scanning and compliance needs (logistics, retail, inventory). This reduces the failure rate of reading at packaging/shipping points.
