Barcode Print Head Maintenance Tips
The print head is a core component of the printer, and its condition directly affects print quality. Given the delicate nature of professional thermal or thermal transfer barcode printer print heads, improper maintenance can lead to malfunctions. Therefore, it's important to pay attention to the following nine key maintenance points to ensure continued stable print head operation.
User Disassembly Prohibited
To avoid unnecessary damage, ordinary users should refrain from disassembling the print head.
Beware of Bumps on the Print Head
If bumps appear on the print head, seek professional assistance to avoid damage caused by improper handling.
Keep the Machine Clean
Regularly clean dust from the printer to maintain it in good working condition.
Avoid Using Thermal Paper
Try to avoid using thermal printing, as thermal paper varies in quality, and some have a rough surface. Direct contact with the print head can damage it.
Clean the Print Head Regularly
Clean the print head regularly based on the amount of printing. Always turn off the printer power before cleaning, and use a medical cotton swab dipped in anhydrous alcohol to clean it in one direction.
Control Printing Time
Avoid running the print head continuously for extended periods. Although the manufacturer provides a maximum continuous printing time, users should rest the printer periodically.
Adjust Printing Temperature and Speed
While ensuring print quality, the print head temperature and speed can be appropriately lowered to extend its lifespan.
Choose the Appropriate Ribbon
Choose the appropriate ribbon, ensuring it is slightly wider than the label to minimize wear on the print head. The side of the ribbon that contacts the print head should be coated with silicone oil for protection, but avoid using inferior ribbons.
Maintenance in Humid Environments
When using the printer in humid areas or rooms, pay special attention to print head care. Before starting a printer that has not been used for an extended period, check the condition of the print head, rollers, and consumables. If any moisture or attachments are detected, clean or replace them before use.
